Making Edits and Corrections to Extracted Data

HeldAway workflows can be designed to extract data points from documents and make them available for customized tasks. While the precision of data can range from transaction level detail to account level summaries, in this help article we focus on how users can quickly correct extraction errors in position and document level data.

We use the latest technology to save our users time doing boring work, and highlight the salient parts of many types of documents. Naturally, we expect both content recognition as well as context errors to occur and provide users with a simple way to correct these mistakes and organically improve their workflows.

Today we improved functionality to allow bulk editing of position level data points as well as in context editing within Workflows. Here is how it works:

Bulk Editing

If you have a statement with a particularly large number of positions for example and you find one or many errors, please do sent a note to support@heldaway.io. However, it's possible to use the bulk editor to make updates or corrections as well - let's take an example of position level data:

  1. Access Data Editing Screens within a client account:
    1. Via Accounts -> Data Points

Click on the Client's name and choose "Account"

Select Accounts from the Client Dashboard

Select the account of interest and choose "DATA POINTS"

Choose DATA POINTS from the Edit Account Screen
    2. Via Document -> Extract -> Position Data

Choose "Documents" from the Client Dashboard

Select the Document which you'd like to Edit and choose "EXTRACT" then "POSITION DATA"

  2. Toggle the Edit switch to present in-line editing of each field.
  3. Make changes to fields - Rows with changes in flight will be highlighted in red on the left hand side
  4. Click Save Edits - Changes can be made in any order, but you must click "Save Edits" at the bottom of the page to store changes, or all amendments will be lost.

Please keep in mind that you may find this bulk edit functionality across the system and that the fields available for edit do not always represent the entirety of the information we store.

In-Line Workflow Editing

Naturally, you'll find (hopefully few!) errors while reviewing positions, generating reports for your own system of records or completing reconciliation tasks.

Many of the workflows require aggregating data from multiple sources before performing calculations. For example in order to reconcile the drivers of a change of value in an account - we may need to compare the opening and closing statement value with all of the transactions in the period covered by that statement.

We do the heavy lifting of bringing all of those pieces of information into a single work space, but if there is an extraction error - you may find it useful to simply make a correction to a single field from an object and continue working.

Where we are sourcing data from a different object - we'll present a simple edit button which will pop up the source object and allow for quick changes in line, without losing your position - so keep an eye out for the edit logo.

Anywhere you see this within a workflow - you can expect a simple interface to allow quick corrections:

The edit logo

A pop-up similar to this one will allow for quick inline changes and a return to the larger workflow.
